Exemestane is an aromatase inhibitor. This means that it blocks the aromatase (present in the muscles, skin, breasts and fat of the body), which is used to convert androgens (hormones produced by the adrenal glands) into estrogens.

Exemestane (Aromasin) Specification:
What is Exemestane (Aromasin) ?
Exemestane is an aromatase inhibitor. This means that it blocks the aromatase (present in the muscles, skin, breasts and fat of the body), which is used to convert androgens (hormones produced by the adrenal glands) into estrogens.
Exemestane (Aromasin) dosage:
After oral administration of a 25 mg dose, Exemestane (Aromasin) reached a peak plasma concentration within 2 hours. The effective life of this drug is between 24 and 30 hours. This is important because it is much shorter than non-steroidal inhibitors. A single oral administration of 25 mg of Exemestane (Aromasin) resulted in a relatively long-lasting reduction in plasma and urinary estrogen levels, with maximal inhibition occurring approximately 2 to 3 days after administration for approximately 4 to 5 days.
It has been shown that 25 mg of Exemestane (Aromasin) is essentially as effective as 50 mg in inhibiting estrogen, increasing testosterone levels and IGF levels. Therefore, the dose does not have to exceed 25 mg per day. Due to the active life of the compound, Exemestane (Aromasin) should be taken approximately every 24 hours.
